PODCAST OBSERVATIONS
By Dave Jackson from the School of Podcasting
What is on my mind...
I always recommend, "Find out what your audience wants and give it to them." This is true. The post office does this, and yet nobody is telling everyone about their experience at the Post Office, or the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. For me, it seems like all the podcasts are kind of doing a solo show, an interview, a panel, or "narrative" style podcast with nobody taking these formats (and there are plenty more) and doing anything creative. I saw a David Bowie movie, and while I hated the movie, the undeniable facts is that guy was creative. If I again date myself (I was a very, very, young hippie thanks for being the "baby" of the family), Jimi Hendrix was creative (and maybe in both of these examples they got some chemical inspiration) but for me... I just feel the need to mix things up. Do something that still delivers what my audience wants, but potentially with a bit more focus on the entertainment aspect...
I'm also trying to pinpoint, "What is the difference between a conversation and a podcast? (or is there a difference) and I fell I should be able to answer this better than what I have currently (a podcast has a clear purpose. it is a performance created for an audience). Thoughts?
WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO
I had enough people ask that I bought the new Blue Sona. From what I hear it is very VERY close to the Shure Sm7B, an Sweetwater has their 90 day (almost) same as cash deal so I am now an owner (video review coming to my YouTube channel soon.
Speaking of Sweetwater, did you know they have a used gear section? I can now sell all the stuff in my closet and either get credit towards gear at sweetwater, or they take a small percentage. I love this idea (even though it somewhat scares me....)

I'm trying to come up with something "out of left field" to break up the routine.
