PODCAST OBSERVATIONS
By Dave Jackson from the School of Podcasting
WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO
I know it's been a while since I've sent out a newsletter. I spent a week in LA at Podcast Movement Evolutions, and when I got home I (maybe?) gave myself food poisoning by drinking bad milk (it wasn't expired, but I noticed the next day - still unexpired - it was lumpy). I do need your opinion on Facebook (leave it here)
So let's get caught up.

Ever wonder why I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with WordPress? schoolofpodcasting.com/episodes is showing I've had a critical error (and the site is somewhat hoarked). I've contacted my web host to either resolve or roll back the site to a backup. (Seriously considering moving the site to Podpage, there is just 17 years of stuff behind the scenes)

QUESTION OF THE MONTH
Do you have enough time in your schedule to listen or are you going to “bump” someone to make room?
Don't forget to tell us a little bit about your show, and your website address. Go to

and leave your answer by 4/22/22
WHAT CAUGHT MY EYE
While YouTube was at Podcast Movement, they didn't announce anything (we all thought they were which is why it was "standing room only"). James Cridland discovered a slide deck that shows YouTube has plans for podcasting.
I've been watching "We Crashed" (the story of We Work) on Apple TV (trailer) which is an interesting look what excessive confidence and the ability to manipulate people can do. I also enjoyed the insights into the mind of millennials.
The infinite dial was presented at Podcast Movement Evolutions. The number of listeners went down for the first time. Tom Webster explained that this was due to younger people listening during covid and have now gone back to school. Also Twitter spaces is double Clubhouse (so they are the bigger fish in a very, very, very, small pond). Full report.
The entire archive of six years of his show "On Contact" has been removed by YouTube. Thanks to Kim from toastmasters101.net for that.
What Are Your Thoughts on Facebook?
I mentioned this earlier, I know we all have a love / hate relationship. I'm trying to find out how much is love and how much is hate. I would REALLY appreciate you taking a three question survey.
COMING IN THE FUTURE
I have a few episodes of people who were timid about starting a podcast (who have amazing backgrounds) and now they've started their show and they provide views from before and after.
I'm also playing with a new community tool, and I like it, except it's free. I'd give you a link but I'm still investigating...
