If you're doing Patreon (or any crowdfunding) the whole "shout out" thing doesn't scale well. BE SURE to add the line "I reserve the right to not accept your Patronage as I have a growing number of people WHO ARE DIRECT COMPETITION for my services signing up for what calculates to $5/episode for ME to promote THEM. So I'm sending out an email this week to them saying, "I'm not promoting you anymore and if you're upset, the door is right there..." (except I might not be that blunt). Rude? I think so.

I mentioned that I bought Headliner Studio. They have a black Friday deal after you sign up for a few plan. As a teacher it not only help me create better headlines, but it shows me why the headline is going to work better (and there is an SEO tool if you go pro)

2022 Will Be the Year of Convertkit

Sometimes we overthink things. I've done this quite a bit this year playing with email programs. I was on (and happy) with Convertkit and then I saw a deal on App Summo for Sendfox. It's not bad, but it didn't have the control I like. I loved Mailerlite, but their interface would lock up on a regular basis and writing this newsletter (which lets face it is not long) at times took an hour (and I was left very frustrating).

I tried a free trial of Aweber. It's not bad, but for me, Convertkit does what I need to do and it's simple. Yes, it will eventually be more expensive. This is when I kind of look at myself and go, "REALLY? You're going to worry about $25 a month?" while I don't all the services I use to go up $25 a month, an email list is something I should not be worried. -Lesson learned. I am checking "email lists" off the list. I made a decision and it's time to move on.

Black Friday Sale at Monster Insights

Google Analytics are great, but I want the Cliff Notes version of my stats, and this tool (For WordPress sites) is just that. A quick snap shot, easy to read, website statistics tool. That's why I love Monster Insights. Normally $200/yr, they have a Black Friday deal for $79/year.

SURE SM7B On SALE?

The Sure SM7B never goes on sale. This is almost a "There's no crying in baseball!" moment. There's no sales on the SM7B. Well, now there is. I may just have to pull the trigger. It's such an iconic microphone. I hear myself saying, "If nobody is complaining about your sound - you don't need a new microphone" to which I say, "Yeah I know, but, but, it's the SM7B! Normally $400, not $360

COMING IN THE FUTURE

I'm looking forward to getting some time off from Libsyn after Thanksgiving and working on School of Podcasting 2.0 My goal is to roll out the new version before the end of the year. It's going to be close.

I also plan on getting caught up Mark at Captivate.fm as they've released dynamic ad tools, and from what I saw it looked cool. I also need to watch a tutorial on Descript. I tried using it in my last episode and some of the edits were not great. For now, I'm going to blame me (operator error). It's funny how we don't have time to watch a tutorial, but we find time to do it twice....
