Hello ,
How is your week going? Here is what has been going on at the School of Podcasting.
We talked about the two most important parts of your podcast. You can "wing it" in parts of your show if you want to, but these two parts better be rock solid.Find out what they are here
In this week's episode, I share some stories about how people have changed over time. I remember growing up Comedian Richard Prior's records were so "dirty" that I couldn't listen to my older brother's records. Did you know he started off doing squeaky clean physical comedy? He changed his act because he was trying to be something he wasn't. So this week's episode is You can't change what you don't start.
Podcast Question of the Week: Microphones
Some asked me if the ATR2100 was still the best microphone. The answer is YES. I know so many things change withtechnology, but this is still true. Here is why:
1. It's dynamic (not a condensor) microphone so it picks up much less background noise.
2. It's USB and XLR so you can use it by yourself as USB or plug it into a mixer.
3. it sounds great. Really.
4. It's less than $100. It currently is $59 in my Amazon store. You can get the mic, a stand to clamp on your desk, and a pop filter (don't forget the pop filter )for $83 in my Amazon store at bestpodcastinggear.com
Because of my Podcast
If you listen to my show I have podcasters share stories of things that have happened only because of their podcast. In this week's episode someone met their future wife because of their podcast. Well as a test, I'm turning this into its own podcast. So if you have a "Because of my podcast ______" story be sure to record the story, and send it to dave@schoolofpodcasting.com (be sure to mention your show, your website, etc).
Start Planning Your Podcast
The School of Podcasting Registration opens soon. In the meantime check out my Planning Your Podcast course at www.planningyourpodcast.com and later if your join the School of Podcasting, I will refund the amount you spent on Planning Your Podcast.
Have a great week, and remember to wear sunscreen (I forget, and I am paying for it dearly).
